VITA COCO
One night in 2003, childhood friends Mike Kirban and Ira Liran met two young women from Brazil. Soon after, Ira hopped on a plane to Brazil to see one of the girls and learned about "agua de coco." When Mike came to visit shortly afterwards, they got down to business with a plan to bring coconut water to the US.
Vita Coco was born.
Not long ago you needed a ladder and a machete to get great-tasting coconut water. Now all you have to do is open a Vita Coco to get your taste of the tropics.
The liquid inside a coconut is what makes up our nutritious Vita Coco Coconut water but nothing is wasted. The meat from the coconuts is used for our coconut oil and is a key ingredient in our coconut milk, our factories burn the shells to generate energy, and our farmers place the used husks around existing coconut palm trees.
